Job Details

The Internal Controls Lead will be tasked to manage the project to ensure that the Group complies with UK SOX. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, dynamic, FTSE 100 Plc. The role will involve a 24-36 month project to scope the regime for the Group, implement the required procedures, perform controls testing and remediate any issues to ensure compliance.

Description

The Internal Controls Lead will be tasked to;

  • Scope the UK SOX regime across the subsidiaries in the Group.
  • Implementation of a consistent controls environment. You will work closely with auditors, senior management and other stakeholders across the Group.
  • Rigorous testing of controls, clear reporting of results and the remediation of issues identified to ensure compliance with the UK SOX regime.
  • Reporting & stakeholder management. You will be required to provide regular board reports informing the CEO, CFO and Audit Committee of the project progress and milestones.
  • Onboarding of new subsidiaries. The Group has been historically acquisitive therefore you will be responsible for the onboarding of any in-scope acquired subsidiaries to ensure compliance with the Group controls environment.
  • Business as usual - following the implementation of the UK SOX regime, you will be responsible for ensuring a continuous strong internal control environment across the Group.

Profile

The Internal Controls Lead should be;

  • ACA qualified.
  • Excellent project management skills essential ideally with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
  • Internal audit experience and / or experience as an auditor covering clients that were subject to SOX reporting.
  • Strong understanding of accounting standards (IFRS).
  • Self-starter with initiative and drive to challenge status quo.
  • Flexible / pragmatic approach with an understanding of how controls are implemented and applied in a commercial retail environment.
  • Proficient in the use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
