Your new company
Hays is proud to be partnered with a market leading multi-national manufacturing organisation to recruit for a tax specialist. A multi-entity business experiencing growth and investment, this is an employer of choice offering the opportunity to get involved in interesting and complex tax work. This role is suited to an individual transitioning from practice or with pre-existing in-house experience. The organisation is committed to inclusion and diversity in all areas and prides itself on developing the skills and interests of their staff. As such, it offers brilliant flexibility with core hours being 9:45am to 3pm and the ability to condense your hours, facilitating a half-day on a Friday should you wish. Other benefits are outlined below but include remote working, with a minimum of one day in the Edinburgh office per week post-pandemic, and a generous pension scheme, with 5% employee contribution and 10% employer contribution.

Your new role
Joining an established, medium-sized Tax Team with a wealth of experience and knowledge, you will have responsibility for the day-to-day tax matters of the UK group. This will involve tax compliance and reporting, as well as business partnering on commercial decisions and supporting ad-hoc projects. As such, you will complete detailed analysis of UK and overseas corporation tax returns (these will have been initially completed by a CA firm), prepare the divisional quarterly tax provision, and be involved in the divisional R&D claim. Further to this, you will have the opportunity to round out your tax experience with exposure to VAT and employment taxes with further development of responsibility in these areas should you wish; invaluable experience for a successful career and progression within industry. Indeed, this opportunity has arisen as a result of an internal promotion.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have a proven track record within tax in either an in-house or practice capacity, demonstrating good UK corporate tax knowledge. Ideally, this will be complimented by a relevant qualification, such as ACCA, ICAS and/or CTA. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to work to deadlines. Strong knowledge of Excel will enhance your application.

What you'll get in return
In addition to the excellent flexible and agile working options outlined above, you will receive a generous salary of up to £55,000 depending on your experience and an enviable pension scheme. You will also receive enhanced holiday entitlement, life assurance, income protection, learning and development opportunities and further flexible benefits. These involve a flexible allowance which may be put towards things such as travel insurance, private medical, critical illness cover and health screening.
