Melbourne bookkeeper/accounting person required for small, very successful Australian co. that sells their product in Australia & to global markets

WHAT YOU WILL MANAGE
  • This bookkeeper/accounts administration and payroll position, reports to the Managing Director.
  • The role includes the timely and accurate processing of accounts payable and receivables.
  • Stock control, inclusive of ordering and inventory management (raw & finished products).
  • Reconciliation of bank accounts, credit cards, loans and other general ledger accounts.
  • Weekly preparation of payroll (x 8 people) and payment of superannuation, PAYG and payroll tax, BAS statements, WorkCover, ensuring compliance of all responsibilities with statutory requirements.
  • Shipping administration both local and international exporting - international freight and currency conversions.
  • Adhoc admin, data entry, phone answering (minimal), answering overseas emails.
  • Preparation of month end accounts including general ledger reconciliations and the maintenance of the company's fixed asset register.
WHAT EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS WILL YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB?
  • Experience in a similar role is ideal, with accounts/bookkeeping experience and a solid knowledge of MYOB is essential.
  • Preferably experience with international payments regarding freight, ideally with knowledge of currency conversions, though this is not mandatory.
  • Understanding of ERP software.
  • Exposure to or payroll experience preferred, with a working knowledge of BAS statements and an understanding of Australian GST.
  • You will have a track record of working autonomously using your own initiative.
