About the role
The role is located in Whangarei and is responsible for providing financial advice, information and analysis to help managers across the Northland region to make timely and informed financial decisions, manage financial performance and to be accountable for public funds.
We are seeking an outstanding finance professional who understands Government decision making and operating procedures and who can strengthen our ability to provide effective financial management and support the Ministry's financial strategy. We are looking for people who are focused on process improvement and are keen to move towards providing a service beyond the purely financial.
To be successful in this role you will have a practical and positive attitude, a keen interest in process improvement and the ability to build effective relationships and credibility with customers at all levels across the Ministry, team members and colleagues in Finance.
You will also offer:
* Tertiary Qualification in Finance, Commerce or Business, and holding Chartered Accountant status within CAANZ or equivalent is desired
* A sound understanding of public sector financial management
* Thorough practical understanding and application of management accounting principles and techniques
* Experience undertaking financial modelling and in-depth or complex financial analysis
* Can effectively influence and provide specialist advice to senior managers
