At BNZ we are passionate about continuing to uplift our risk maturity and capability across our teams.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced First line Operational Risk Manager to join our BNZ Insurance team as our Manager, Management Assurance for a 12-month fixed term contract or secondment.

Reporting into the Senior Manager - Management Assurance, you will help to discharge all risk management accountabilities for Insurances, as well as having responsibility for the management of all BNZ Life Insurance remediation events.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Provide input and expertise to help execute the risk management accountabilities within the business.
  • Drive the timely and effective management of customer remediation events.
  • Support best practice risk management and facilitate appropriate change to ensure the balance between risk and reward is maintained.
  • Create documents and reports as required for a variety of audiences that clearly articulate key facts and insights.
  • Build and maintain relationships with wider insurance teams/Bank to deliver value for the Insurance business and its customers.
  • Support and facilitate a culture of risk awareness, ownership, and control.
  • Integrate risk appetite into decision making processes.

To be successful in this role you will:
  • Be a risk manager with experience within a financial services institution, preferably insurance.
  • Have a sound understanding of operational risk management, compliance and/or regulation.
  • Have broad knowledge of risk management frameworks, principles and methodologies
  • Be a creative thinker with proven success in resolving problems
  • Excellent written communication skills with experience in writing papers for a wide range of audiences.
  • Have experience presenting and facilitating to groups and summarising large volumes of information.
  • Be effective with decision making and ability to lead others in decision making.
