Story
Do you want to lead the finance team at an electric vehicle startup growing 600% year-on-year and take it through to IPO while also reducing carbon emissions globally?
Zoomo is leading the charge to enable our vision of people and things moving within cities using the most efficient vehicle for their trip. Saving money, time and energy... whilst having fun. To that end we are building the world's most convenient, affordable and safe e-bike platform, starting with a focus on last mile delivery.

In the short span since the founders went full time in 2019, Zoomo has raised over $30M from some of the world's savviest investors and built world leading utility e-bikes and a disruptive business model for their distribution and maintenance.

We're a fast growing start up with a global footprint across the US, Australia, and the UK and are now the trusted partner to some of the world's leading and most innovative companies like Uber, DoorDash, Domino's, Pizza Hut, Wholefoods, Gorillas, Just Eat, Getir and many more.

About the business

We are an operationally complex and capital intensive business with excellent commercial traction, primarily overseas. Designing small-format electric vehicles (e-cargo bikes & comparable emerging vehicle formats), contract manufacturing around the world, running teams to manage lease and maintenance operations in major cities globally. Customers range from individuals, all the way through to mammoth enterprises. The business grew 6x last year and is forecast to grow 10x this year.

The role

Given the capital intensity and operational complexity of the business, this is a high priority role. This will be the first C-Suite hire the founders have made. The CFO will lead our finance function and help drive us from series A through Series B and to being public market ready. Now heading into a series B, we have both very strong equity and debt investors on our registry and coming our way. We currently have a small finance team ably led by high performing young guns and ably advised by exceptional specialists. You will take on leadership of this team, and potentially others, depending on your strengths and experience.

Specifically, your role will involve:
  • Setting and driving the overall financial strategy for the enterprise
  • Optimising the capital structure and financing arrangements the business, with an ability to compare available financing forms and geographies from Australia, the US and Europe
  • Working with equity investors to raise equity and maximise shareholder value
  • Negotiating financing arrangements to improve the capital cost of the business
  • Ensuring the business understands and continually drives improvement in its unit economics
  • Manage demands of a fast-growing business including FX, treasury, international tax
  • Optimising the working capital requirements of the business
  • Prepare the company for eventual exit event
  • Supervise all finance personnel
  • Set up and oversee the company's finance IT system

The ideal candidate would:
  • Be an exceptional leader motivated to change the way the world moves
  • Be a CPA or Chartered
  • Have experience in a venture-backed, high growth business that has raised significant amounts of capital
  • Have experience in an asset heavy, hardware business dealing with real world products
  • Have experience with a global business
  • Have experience managing debt lenders and facilities
  • Have familiarity with pre-IPO pathway conventions in US or UK.

Requirements
  • Proven experience as CFO, or Head of Finance looking for their next move
  • In depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
  • Ability to strategize and solve problems
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Ability to interact with and influence investors, senior management team and Board
  • An analytical mind, strong with numbers
  • BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; MSc/MBA is a plus
