Purchase Ledger Clerk, Birmingham, WFH, Up to £24,000


Hays are delighted to be working with a private sector organisation who provided business consultancy services to a wide range of clients. With an office here in Birmingham, this organisation are partnering exclusively with Hays to recruit for a Purchase Ledger Clerk on a permanent basis. This organisation have experienced significant growth over the last 12 months following being bought out by a large European entity, and this along with changes to the team has created the need for a extra head in their busy and dynamic finance team, focusing specifically on their Purchase Ledger function. This role will be mainly based from home, with only some requirement for trips into the office, which offers the successful candidate great flexibility.

This role will involve:

  • Manually processing invoices
  • Matching imports invoices to relevant information- checking VAT information is correct and any required documentation is present
  • Resolving supplier/purchase queries
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Producing payment runs for review
  • Getting involved in AP audit processes
  • Day to day assistance to the Financial Controller when required


In order to be successful in this role you will be have considerable experience within purchase ledger roles, and will have used computerised accounting software in your previous roles. The successful candidate will also be comfortable using Excel, as spreadsheets are used a lot throughout this role. The successful candidate with have strong written and interpersonal communication skills and be able to articulate financial information to non-financial stakeholders. Knowledge or exposure to VAT would also be advantageous.

In return you will get a salary of up to £24,000 dependent on experience, 24 days of annual leave which increases for every year you are with the organisation, and a fantastic working environment with the potential to develop great workplace relationships. This role will be mainly based from home, with only some requirement for trips into the office, which offers the successful candidate great potential for flexibility.
