Our client is an award winning, high growth cleantech data business at the forefront of helping enable greener and cleaner power systems globally. They are backed by leading investors and are well positioned to capitalize on the suite of products and services already developed. They are now looking to recruit a best-in-class COO/CFO as they seek to scale the business from both a financial and operational perspective, and the successful candidate will have had a strong focus on operational delivery in an international, technology led company. Reporting to the CEO, the COO/CFO will be responsible for delivering operational excellence, including Procurement and Legal, as well as having excellent financial management across the business.


Key

responsibilities:

  • Create a strong performance / excellence culture with a key emphasis on customer operational delivery, quality, safety, security, scalability and business performance management.
  • Establish an effective Operational Delivery capability to support a growing list of international customers and services being delivered 24/7/365, cloud-native, centrally managed but increasingly delivered locally.
  • Establish close engagement between operations and finance to ensure the close integration of finance across the business and provide real value through the provision of quality, timely and accurate information, highlighting issues, trends and available options
  • Strive for operational and financial excellence, ensure that financial systems and governance is appropriate for the challenges facing the organisation, underpinned by highly effective systems and processes.
  • Soundly understand the business, its products and services, the global data services marketplaces in which it operates and competes in, and to take an active role in identifying and developing strategic options and plans which will allow the business to maximise its revenues, margins, and profit growth whilst effectively managing risk
  • Leverage experience in fundraising, both VC / Private Equity and IPO / Institutional Shareholders.
  • Experience of buying and selling businesses, and / or the creation of successful commercial and operational ventures
  • Ensure full corporate governance at all times, building up risk control capabilities around operational activities, deal assessments and reporting
  • Take full responsibility for delivering the business plan, forecasting and monthly / quarterly reporting processes, internally to the management team and to the Board
  • Generate relevant MI to support business decision making as well as performance management by tracking key leading and lagging indicators

Person specification

  • International COO and CFO experience with a proven track record in a high growth, cloud or data based international enterprise and with a strong finance background, preferably ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified, or equivalent
  • High intellect with the presence and charisma to operate and work with senior / board-level executives
  • Experience in B2B data services
  • Strong leadership skills and excellent team player, relentless in drive.
  • Commitment to the mission, company and employees
  • Strong business / commercial acumen and with an understanding of customer needs and their competitive position in the market
  • Ability to develop effective relationships and build a positive collaborative environment between shareholder or Group and the business
  • Gravitas and financial / commercial credibility to perform a Board role
  • High intellect with the presence and charisma to operate and work with senior / board-level executives
  • Ability to exercise independent professional judgement within the full business and commercial context
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; ability to distil complex technical information into clear simple messages
  • Strong analytical skills and financially astute
  • High level of ethics and integrity
  • A proactive, energetic, pragmatic, hardworking individual with strong people and relationship skills
  • Able to communicate fluently and concisely across a range of different cultures; tough, adaptable and resilient, able to work with robust characters
  • Hands on and task oriented, comfortable at operating in a 'sleeves rolled up' manner, hard-working but with a good sense of humour
