JOB DESCRIPTION: ACCOUNTANT

Job Details

Reporting to the Senior Manager - HR and Business Operations, the successful candidate with be responsible for the following:

' Managing the accounts across IPSEM Squared and its affiliates, ensuring that all accounts are up to date. This will require accounts to be managed for companies based in Labuan, Malaysia, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom.

' Delivering financial reporting requirements (including any submissions) by their due dates.

' Working with the Directors and Company Secretaries to ensure that both relevant and required records are up to date.

' Managing payments made by IPSEM Squared to its freelance workforce based across Asia in a timely manner.

Job Responsibilities

The role has different activities. The key ones are:

1. Managing the preparation of full sets of financial statements, working sheet and data entry via the finance system for the monthly accrual of General Ledger ensuring adherence to the Company's policy and prevailing statutory requirements.

2. Undertake modelling to determine future (month-by-month) cashflow requirements.

3. Inputting information to create entries which support the financial statements.

4. Performing bank and various accounting reconciliations.

5. Managing all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting and Revenue Recognition.

6. Managing payments to contractor community based across Asia (100+ per month).

7. Liaising with key client on financial matters, including production of reports for them.

8. Liaising with external auditors, bankers, tax agents and statutory bodies for the different territories.

9. Managing payroll for local staff (5 - 6).

10. Preparing budget and financial forecasts (including cashflow) and report variances.

11. Reviewing submissions of financial reports to Head Office (KL).

12. Ensuring adherence to Labuan Financial Services Authority (LFSA) regulations.

13. lmplementing and maintaining standard operating procedures i.e. Limits of Authority (LOA) and Financial Control Framework (FCF).

14. Managing any inventory of assets and sourcing of suppliers (vendors).

15. Managing the development of the annual budget for the company to ensure optimal resource allocation.

16. Preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements.

17. Coordinating the preparation of regulatory reporting.

18. Researching technical accounting issues for compliance.

19. Managing month-end and year-end close process.

20. Ensuring quality control is in place for financial transactions and financial reporting.

21. Managing and complying with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

22. Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

23. Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing account information.

24. Provide financial information to management by researching and analysing accounting data; preparing reports.

25. Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analysing account information.

26. Summarize current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.

27. Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information.

28. Secure financial information by completing database backups in SharePoint.

29. Prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.

23. Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing account information.

30. Additional controller duties as necessary.

Key-Challenges

' Ensuring reporting is in accordance with proper accounting standards across multiple jurisdictions and adhering to strict deadlines from the relevant bodies.

' Ensuring the submission of the budget numbers and reporting on a timely basis.

' Establishing good relationship with Labuan authorities.

' Ensuring all the Labuan company adheres to requirements from LFSA.

' Working independently in a remote location.

Skill Requirements

' Functional Competencies: Financial Accounting, Accounts Payable / Receivable, Budgeting, Cost Management and reporting.

' Excel modelling skills would be required (particularly for cash flow activities)

' Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/ Finance or equivalent / or other related professional qualification.

' At least L0 years of relevant work experience in Accounting or Finance.

' CPA or CMA preferred.

' Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, creating financial statements and general ledger functions and the month-end/year end closing process.

' Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.

' Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different jurisdiction.

' Ability to undertake some limited travel (mainly to Kuala Lumpur).
