The Role

We're looking for a Risk Intelligence Manager to run our risk intelligence capability here at IAG.In this role you will lead a team of high-performing professionals toevolve the risk intelligence practice,connect the dots acrossqualitative andquantitativesources,challengethe paradigms of risk management,and communicatewith impactto executive audiencesacross both direct insurance and intermediated insurance divisions.The Risk Intelligence capability is a key enabler for timely and effective executive decision makingaround emerging risk issuesand forms a key part of the divisional risk resilience and maturity.We're looking for astrategicthinkerwith prior experience working for large complex organisationswho wants tooperateat the forefront of thought leadership leading an ever-evolving team!

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and guide a high-performing team of professionals fusing quantitative and qualitative insights to deliver actionable risk intelligence identifying emerging risk issues and their implications.
  • Enablethe effective delivery of risk intelligence identifying emerging risk issues, and their implicationsacross divisionsfor timely and effective executive decision making.
  • Manage team members to ensure reports are completed on time, within terms of reference, customized for the target audience, and in accordance with risk intelligence production standards.
  • Work with the Operational Risk Leadership Team (ORLT) to develop and align the risk intelligence program of work withdivisionstrategies, business plans, and key initiatives.
  • Engage the DIA Leadership Team and the DIA Executive Risk Committee (ERCo) regularly to determine their key risk intelligence requirements, and the adequacy of risk intelligence products and services in meeting those requirements.
  • Lead the development and execution of a coherent collection plan to gather and collate all available data and information in service of key risk intelligence requirements and the needs of the risk intelligence production plan.
  • Drive individual and collective sensemaking across review and reporting activities to produce risk intelligence products and services pertaining to the risk landscape for Operational Risk and DIA Division.

  • Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working in a corporate culture, audit, risk management, intelligence and/or project capacity within a large organisation.
  • Highly developed systems thinking skills, analytic skills, interpersonal skills, and communication skills (written & oral).
  • Sensemaking and intelligence experience, including leading analyticalteams.
  • Ability to communicate with impact to executive leadership teams.
  • Strong program/project governance and management skills, including change management.
  • Ability to create environments where accountable and respectful teams thrive and deliver outstanding results.
  • Ability to cope with pressure and prioritise workload to meet timeframes.
  • Ability to work autonomously within a small team framework.
  • Highly computer literate with advanced Microsoft Excel, Word andPowerpointskills
  • Strong ability to develop relationships, work effectively with others, and consider needs and potential contributions of others.
  • Project management experience, including business analysis and/or technology.
  • General insurance industry risk and compliance function experience.
  • Regulatory change and understanding of financial services prudential requirements.
  • Strong understanding of risk management frameworks and business processes
  • Strong knowledge of the Australian general insurance industry, including its regulatory context.
  • Tertiary level qualification/s in a relevant discipline desired e.g., Business Analysis, Intelligence,Design Thinking, Risk, Law, and Communications.
