  • People and Culture Division are currently advertising positions in Payroll and People Services.

    Payroll

    The Payroll Services Branch provides corporate support in the areas of pay and entitlements (Payroll Services), organisational structure management, and system support. In addition, it provides finance services relating to management of staff debt and overpayments. Payroll Services operates from two sites - Canberra and Melbourne, providing Payroll related services to all state and regional offices, encompassing all areas of the Department of Home Affairs.

    People Services

    The People Services Branch is directly responsible for HR operations related to recruitment services, case management, culture diversity and inclusion initiatives, employee development including the delivery of leadership and APS core skills training andproviding advice on complex conditions of service.

  • Specific duties/responsibilities:
  • Apply technical and expert advice on policy and procedure to stakeholdes, clients andteam members on complex matters
  • Manage and contribute to continuous improvement projects aligned to section objectives
  • Coordinate and perform a range of procedural and administrative HR activities, in accordance with relevant legislation, policy and established procedures and guidelines
  • Maintain data integrity and accuracy, analyse data against performance objectives and indentify risks and opportunities
  • Exercise judgement when making decisions within parameters and escalate complex issues
  • Manage and monitor individual and team service level standards
  • Build capability in the team in accordance with the performance development framework, by maintaining accountability for deliverables, providing feedback, coaching and conflict resolution and encouraging career development
  • Provide support and assistance to executive staff and across the section as directed.

  • Role requirements/qualifications:
  • Strong communication, client service and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities through effective planning and organisation
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills to ensure business needs are being met
  • Project management skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience
  • HR experience and relevant qualificationsare highlydesirable.
