Preference will be given to qualified full-time employees within the bargaining unit at Sheridan College. Should a suitable candidate not be found, external candidates will be considered. Using PeopleSoft HRIS software, ensuring the accurate and timely entry of payroll related information for all Support, Academic & Administrative employees; Maintaining, upgrading, and adapting employee records for all Academic Non-Teaching, special payments and other non-employee set-ups and payments; Entering and verifying payroll transactions and PS records to ensure accurate and timely remuneration of wages; Assuming the lead role (on a rotating basis) in running the critical end-to-end processes, which make up the payroll cycle; Entering, checking, and reviewing all data entered by HR including retro calculations, pension setups, general deduction setup etc.; Analyzing paperwork and decentralized data input to ensure completeness, compliance and accuracy against the College's Collective Agreements, internal policies and/or the ESA legislated minimum standards; Performing other related duties as assigned.
The Payroll Officer is responsible for accurate and timely processing and confirmation of pay for all college employees; including special payment non-employees in accordance with the terms and conditions outlined in their contracts and according to college policies and procedures. In addition, the Officer is responsible for validating all Academic Non-Teaching, special payments and other non-employee set-ups and payments.

The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications:
3-year diploma/degree in Human Resource Management, Accounting/Finance or related field along with a minimum of 5 years of payroll processing experience on an in-house computerized HRIS (PeopleSoft preferred) (or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience) Must be well versed in the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience using Macros is considered an asset. Thorough and current knowledge of Canada Revenue Agency regulations pertaining to payroll is necessary. Must demonstrate a high level of integrity and compliance with CRA legislation in performing the Payroll function. Experience in interpreting collective agreements is preferred. Knowledge and experience with accounting principles, mathematical calculations, and general ledger cost accounting and distributions is an asset. CPM designation will be considered an asset. PCP designation from the Canadian Payroll Association is an asset Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Time & Labour module is preferred.
