Overview

The role will focus on assisting the Investment Director, two Investment Managers and the Investment Administrator in the construction, maintenance, and ongoing reporting of a range of model and bespoke portfolios for the firm's clients and Chetwood Wealth Management Ltd & Darnells Wealth Management Ltd (close link) firms. These portfolios mainly consist of OEIC's / IT's and ETF's. The role will require flexible working from home with some travel to the office in Newton Abbot after the summer. There will also be some conference attendance required should the need arise.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Analysis


• Support the existing investment managers with macro data analysis


• Assist in the fund research, due diligence and scoring process


• Contribute to Macro Research and Fund Research meetings


• Liaise and attend meetings with external fund managers

Portfolio Management


• Assist in the regular monitoring of both model and bespoke client portfolios


• Review portfolios and help prepare suitable switch recommendations


• Contribute to Investment Committee meetings


• Implement dealing instructions (with investment administrator)

Administration


• Maintain investment process documentation


• Oversee the storage of fund research on internal systems


• Develop and maintain marketing proposition and literature - to include portfolio fact sheets, peer comparisons and social media presence / web updates


• Upload client information to secure portal (with investment administrator)


• Assist with administration and documentation of meetings

Reporting


• Help to prepare market commentaries for the wider firm and client reporting


• Conduct DFM performance analysis - to include MIFID II 10% fall reporting


• Provide investment advice and reporting to close link firms and their clients (to include a range of advisory model portfolios)


• Assist Investment Director with risk management framework, due diligence requests and regulatory returns


• Oversee DFM valuation reports (with investment administrator)


• Assist Finance Manager with company ICAAP assessment data requests

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

  • Strong attention to detail is key
  • Ideally two - three years' experience in a regional wealth manager
  • Demonstrate practical awareness of the macro environment, balanced against a need to maintain a long-term portfolio outlook
  • Be agnostic with regards to active and passive strategies and assist in recognising the best of breed to complement each other in diverse portfolio construction
  • Knowledge of retail financial products and current regulatory expectations
  • Deliver effective and positive communication
  • Demonstrate excellent IT skills and competent use of research tools
  • Analytical, with experience in working under pressure in a sensible manner to solve tasks with a keen attention for detail
  • Possess excellent organisational and time management skills with an ability to work under pressure and prioritise
  • Adaptable, driven, self-motivated, ready to embrace change and constantly strive for improvement, taking ownership and accountability for own actions
  • Preferably a working knowledge of macro analysis techniques and portfolio construction
  • Candidate with programming skills preferred - to assist with ongoing development and maintenance of investment team systems
