Job Description

On behalf of our Mining client, NES Fircroft are recruiting an experienced Senior Cost Controller for a 12-month contract role working a 2/1 rotation FIFO from Perth.
The successful Senior Cost Controller will support the construction of a new iron ore processing facility and will be a key interface with the Perth and site teams.
Your role as a Senior Cost Controller requires knowledge and experience with project controls, commercial and construction functions.

Site experience on major capital projects is a must. Responsibilities include providing cost control reports, liaising with site contractors on progress, claims and MTO's.
The successful Senior Cost Controller will serve as a key support to the site construction team and to the Perth based team on all matters relating to construction activities.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Validate site contractors claims and reported progress
  • Validate and update site MTO's and BoQ's on a progressive basis
  • Liaise with site contractors and owners team stakeholders to provide cost reporting, forecasting and MoC as required
  • Input actual and forecast costs against project baseline budget in cost system
  • Collect cost and progress information from both internal and external parties to report on earned value, forecast cost to complete(ETC) and forecast cost at completion (EAC)
  • Prepare monthly reports and ad hoc deliverables as required
  • Highlight variances against baseline plan and budget
  • Perform periodic Earned Value Analysis, tracking Actual value against Planned Value & Earned Value
  • Work closely with Project Managers to implement the EVM process of cost account status reporting, accruals, schedule status andForecasting, provision of progress and variance analysis reporting
  • Adhere, understand and apply the project Work Breakdown Structure to ensure all systems, processes and reporting reflect the standard approach on the project
  • Ensure all project costs are properly captured and reported
  • Verify contractor invoices
  • Assist in management of change (MOC) process through project change notices (PCN)
  • Ensure time writing and invoicing (where applicable) accuracy
  • Ability to transpose earned value metrics into tabular S-curve charts, highlighting budget, earned, forecast ETC and EAC
  • Qualifications and Skills:
  • Experience in a similar site-based role for a minimum of five years
  • Experience in Capital Project execution.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to interface with project and corporate stakeholders.
  • Experience with cost and finance systems, such as CMS, Ariba and SAP essential.
  • Familiar with cost and work breakdown structures.
  • Minimum of ten years' experience on major capital projects
  • Degree qualified or internationally accredited project controls certification
