The key duties of the position include:

The AER Corporate Team provides a full suite of corporate and high-level executive services for the AER. This includes Corporate Services and Executive Office and Reporting.
  • Corporate Services provides financial, governance, human resources, procurement, and learning and development support across the organisation.
  • Executive Office and Reporting is critical to the smooth functioning of the AER Board and associated executive functions. This includes Board secretariat (strategic and administrative), administrative support for the Board, corporate planning and reporting (including annual reporting and reporting to the relevant ACCC Committee/Board) and assistance for the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in the coordination of Senior Management Team (SMT) initiatives and organisational-wide projects.

  • Role and Duties

    The Senior Finance Officer is responsible for supporting the Assistant Director, Finance and Procurement within the Corporate Services team, in delivering AER's financial management and budgetary functions. This includes providing high-level advice, support to internal and external stakeholders and reporting obligations.

    You will have a good understanding of, and practical experience in financial and management accounting, resource management and a high level of competency in the use of computerised Financial Management Information Systems (FMIS) (e.g. TechnologyOne).

    This position requires the ability to work collaboratively and to develop solutions to analytical and reporting problems together with strong liaison and stakeholder relationship skills.

    As a valued member of the Corporate Services team, your responsibilities include:

    Assisting with the delivery of high quality results, including but not limited to:
  • development of internal budgets,
  • financial reporting and analysis for senior management,
  • costing analysis for internal and external stakeholders, and,
  • development of annual and monthly estimates for internal and external budget requirements.
  • developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • providing financial and business advice to divisional stakeholders and assist in organisational performance through effective budget management.
  • contributing to the ongoing improvement of service delivery and analytical tools such as dashboards.
  • collaborating with team members and the broader team.
  • assisting with end of financial year reporting obligations and other tasks relevant to the functions of the team, as required.
  • undertaking other duties, as appropriate.
