The Opportunity

We have two positions with limited duration (full-time up to 18 months) for Shared Services Consultants (SSCs) to join our team in Accounting Operations.

Based in Burwood , the primary purpose of these roles are to support our Accounting Operations team within Transport Shared Services (TSS). These roles provide a high standard of customer service, often involved in the processing of journals and performing balance sheet reconciliations, as well as ensuring that issues are resolved satisfactorily and speedily and in compliance with legislation, policies and accounting standards.

As SSC within Accounting Operation team, you will:
  • Live the NSW Public Sector and organisational values to achieve outstanding outcomes for the organisation and customers.
  • Undertake required tasks including processing journals, reconciliations and investigations.
  • Support timely identification and rectification of outstanding general ledger related items through collaboration with finance teams in TfNSW operating entities.
  • Communicate with stakeholders in a courteous way, demonstrating a willingness to assist and a commitment to providing high-quality service
  • Work cooperatively within the accounting operations team, exchange information and assist other team members to achieve team objectives and work outcomes.
  • Suggest improvements to financial accounting processes, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Achieve the required shared services performance levels in terms of customer satisfaction, efficiency and effectiveness of accounting services provided
  • Effectively use a range of computerised systems, technology and telephony solutions to undertake work tasks, refer or escalate work tasks, enter data and maintain up to date records in order to facilitate work allocation, performance analysis and service improvement.

  • About You

    We are looking for proactive, hands-on team players with an eye for detail and experience with analysing discrepencies. You will have:
  • Experience working in financial accounting in a large organisation
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations and commercial accounting practices relating to government organisations
  • Sound capability to communicate clearly, concisely and appropriately both orally and in writing
  • Sound numeracy ability with solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and to learn and implement new processes and procedures as new technology, service requirements and work methods emerge

    Salary and Benefits

    The salary for this position is Grade 5A ($83,402) - 5E ($91,744) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
