Reconciliations and Systems Accountant Team Leader

The Reconciliations and Systems Accountant Team Leader ("TL") will be responsible for leading 4 to 5 systems accountants for the Corporate Brands. This role is ideal for an Accountant that is passionate about reconciliations, improving processes and wants to step up and lead others.

As a part of the financial accounting team for our corporate brands, the reconciliation and systems accountant's main tasks include the central bank reconciliations, merchant reconciliations, daily system accounting journals and end of month reconciliation tasks.

Reporting to the Assistant Financial Controller for the Corporate Brands, the successful applicant is someone who has a strong attention to detail, initiative to resolve issues and create efficiencies and flexibility to adapt in an ever changing environment. You will have an excellent understanding of the reconciliation process and a history of creating efficiencies in your previous roles.

Duties and responsibilities:

The main responsibilities of the team are to complete timely and accurate reconciliations for our central bank accounts and merchant facilities, as well as our daily system journals. As a TL you will be given as much flexibility as you would like to achieve the below, whilst also having the support required to allow you and the team to be successful.
  • Lead and assist the 4 to 5 other team members, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and completion of the reconciliations for the Corporate Brands in Australia
  • Ensure a high level of financial control through process and reconciliation reviews
  • Ensure processes are documented and process notes are maintained
  • Measurement of team performance with timely reporting on KPIs and risks. This will also include reviews with key stakeholders.
  • Assist the Assistant Financial Controller with process improvement and efficiency
  • Driving process improvement and efficiencies
  • Providing leadership to the team including giving feedback and leading meetings
  • Collaborating with other finance teams, operations and other support teams to mitigate risk and add value to the business
  • Training and on boarding of new staff members

  • About you:

    3+ years in finance

    CA/CPA qualified or working towards

    High level of ownership

    High attention to detail

    Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to develop relationships at all levels

    Proven teamwork skills

    Strong accounting knowledge

    High degree of flexibility and ability to deal with change, growth and pressure

    Prior success in process improvement
