Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

The Position...

This exciting role is an 8-month fixed term, full time position that sits within the large HR Shared Services team.

Key to this role, is supporting, developing, coaching in collaboration with the Payroll Team Leader whilst having the capability to manage complex, high volume payrolls to a high standard and strong attention to detail, whilst providing first-class customer service to the large employee base. We work with eight complex Enterprise Agreements and one modern award. Key systems are Chris21 and Kronos.

The right candidate will bring with them a wealth of knowledge in regards to the requirements and expectations relating to the overall running of the payroll process. Experience within the Public Health system would be well regarded.

As part of the busy team, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing team members with coaching, guidance, training and direction, monitoring workloads and delegating tasks

  • Code timecards/timesheets for each pay type

  • Process employee contract variations

  • Prepare and calculate complex termination payments

  • Attend to queries received by telephone, in person or via the workflow tool

  • Work as part of the processing team on payroll processing days

  • Participate in job rotation, and work with the small team allocated to a particular set of tasks
