As a Tax Associate, you exhibit both strong customer relationship and technical skills in the areas of business accounting and taxation. This includes consultative tax planning with customers, the preparation of income tax returns, and working with the branch team on the more complex tax and consulting related projects. Exceeding branch revenue goals and generating new business are keys for the position's success. The Tax Associate is dedicated to finding creative solutions to meet customer needs and consistently generates superior results in terms of both quantity and quality of services provided to customers. Developing a thorough understanding of Farm Credit East's products and services is required in order to provide the best solution to each customer's unique needs.

Responsibilities/Duties

The employee is accountable for the following:

  • Tax and Financial Services: Provide high value financial services to customers for a profitable fee. Accurately prepare tax returns, state and federal payroll filings, and other returns. Maintain current federal and state tax knowledge and have a thorough understanding of all tax and records software programs. Maintain proper documentation and communication with members and staff in order to respond to internal and external customer needs.
  • Marketing: Increase business by means of promotional activities and superior customer service. Provide value to customers with appropriate and timely products and services.
  • Member Relations/Teamwork: Provide outstanding customer service (both internal and external) and deliver exceptional customer experience and value by setting, communicating and meeting customer expectations. Demonstrate a strong community commitment and professional presence that contributes to the overall positive image of Farm Credit East. Act in a forthright and ethical manner, display a positive attitude and contribute positively to the overall morale of the team and association. Assist other team members and contribute to training.

Required Education

Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business or a related field with solid accounting credits. CPA license preferred but not required. A general knowledge of agriculture is desirable. The successful candidate must take and pass Farm Credit East's Tax Accreditation program within 1 year of hire.
