We have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Assistan t to join our Newcastle based Payroll team on a part time capcity (3 days per week - excluding Thursday) capacity, depending on your level of experience and ability.

Supporting our nine national offices this team process high volume end-to-end payroll. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for assisting with end-to-end weekly payroll processing and will work in a close-knit team. As this role is entry level you will be closely mentored and supported to develop your payroll processing skills.

The responsibilities of this role include:
  • Setting up complex position types and rosters for new employees
  • Maintenance of employee profiles
  • Verifying all payroll information and documentation is accurate, including cross checking of other team members data entry
  • Reconciliation of leave entitlements
  • Responding to employee confidential enquiries
  • Calculation of termination payments
  • Checking the weekly pay register to ensure all employees are paid correctly

  • You will ideally have:
  • Excellent attention to detail and good communication skills with a commitment to superior customer service
  • Entry level experience within a payroll team in processing high volumes of data
    Sound numerical skills
  • The ability to follow process and direction very clearly but also be able to think outside the box
  • Have a flexible attitude to changing tasks frequently in a normal work day
  • Experience with a payroll system built for large organisations, CHRIS21 experience will be highly regarded
