As the Financial Accounting Manager, you will lead the finance function of ElectraNet's Financial Operations and will report to the Head of Finance. The day-to-day of this function is ensuring ElectraNet is compliant with Australian and relevant accounting standards and its regulatory reporting obligations. They are accountable for the organisation's financial accounting transactions, financial result reporting accuracy and technical financial accounting advisory to the business. It is crucial that the Financial Statements are delivered with accuracy, adhering to the policies, procedures and systems underpinning them. This role will further lead the tax strategy and compliance as well as treasury compliance activities.

Success in this role is measured by your ability to proactively deliver ElectraNet's vision through applying extensive financial control experience, as well as insight and people leadership. The ability to build strong working relationships across broad internal and external stakeholder groups, an exceptional degree of attention to detail and accounting excellence is critical to success in the role. A key component to this role is having the ability to articulate and present complex accounting and tax matters to a non-Finance audience, including key stakeholders internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development of the strategic priorities and business plan for the Finance function and Finance Operations business unit;
  • Guide the team to achieve its operational objectives by providing clear direction, setting challenging and meaningful goals and behavioural expectations, actively managing performance and empowering team members to succeed;
  • Provide ongoing, balanced feedback that rewards positive results and supports employees to learn and grow;
  • Seek and Embrace change, leading teams through the change management process to ensure its success;
  • Inspire, motivate, mentor and develop employees to be engaged, accountable and achieve best-practice in their respective disciplines;
  • Ensuring the team delivers up to date accounting policies and procedures to the business to provide financial stewardship around accounting policy;
  • Leading the development and compliance with ElectraNet's tax strategy;
  • Deliver training to the Finance team and broader organisation on accounting policies, procedures as well as new accounting standards;
  • Overseeing accurate, timely and streamlined statutory half year and annual financial statements and associated Board and Audit & Compliance Committee papers;
  • Ensuring supporting technical accounting and tax papers are in place for the statutory half year and annual accounts;
  • Managing numerous internal stakeholders and the external audit relationship;
  • Being accountable for the coordination, accuracy and consolidation of the annual Regulatory reporting obligations on Finance including the 'Regulatory Accounts' as well as RIN reports;
  • Managing all Finance transaction services include AP & AR as well as credit cards and timesheet reporting
  • Manage systems accounting and deliver an efficient, effective and compliant cost allocation model;

  • Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Approved accountancy qualification (e.g. CA/CPA)
  • Previously held a position with a Big 4 or Mid-tier professional services firm
  • Exceptional leadership and delegation skills, with a proven ability to deliver outcomes through teams;
  • Applying theoretical and practical financial accounting knowledge to common as well as complex matters arising from the operations of a Transmission business;
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting standards and practices and practical experience in accounting/regulatory compliance;
  • Contemporary knowledge of regulatory reporting and accounting obligations;
  • Solid commercial acumen and experience in modelling, forecasting, scenario and trend analysis to advise and produce robust recommendations that inform decision making;
