About the role

This role will ensure the integrity of the accounting information through reviewing the current and future statutory and financial reporting processes, managing reporting of an important subsidiary.

Scope of the role includes:
  • Be vigilant to expenditure and draw attention to any questionable or inappropriate transactions.
  • Ensure all reporting requirements to Canon Oceania and Canon Inc are met in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Responsibility for completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all financial reports and statement disclosures.
  • Work closely with management to pro-actively communicate any issues
  • Assist in the development and implementation of robust financial controls and policies
  • Manage the external/internal audit process
  • Prepare concise and technically sound accounting papers, associated policies and procedures and be a key liaison on technical accounting matters.
  • Assess and work closely with key stakeholders in relation to the adoption of new accounting standards including the documentation of accounting changes, process and/or system impacts and change implementations.
  • Ensure robust fixed assets and depreciation management
  • Review of payments through online bank systems

  • About You

    Essential requirements
  • CA / CPA qualified
  • Minimum 5years post qualification practical Financial Accounting experience
  • Advanced spreadsheet and modelling skills
  • Highly developed technical skills with a working understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards, financial and corporate reporting requirements.
  • Previous experience in Statutory Reporting for a reasonably large entity.
  • Experience in a professional services firm (mid-tier/big four) with regard to financial statements audits
  • Experience in preparing proposals for recommendation to senior management
  • Able to break down problems into meaningful parts and come to rational and well thought out conclusions
  • Prior experience with the development and implementation of robust financial policies for good tax governance
  • Basic knowledge of ERP financial modules
