Job Description



Joining a Global HR service delivery team, you will be a member of a dynamic, professional and friendly team who are willing to share knowledge and support your learning and development. Due to employee movement, we have a permanent opportunity for you to consider.
  • Govern and validate our HR payroll data maintained within BHP's HR systems across Minerals Australia and their supporting functions including weekly, fortnightly and monthly payruns consisting of over 33,000 employees
  • Support in managing relationships and contracts with external payroll vendors to ensure high quality and accurate payroll delivery
  • Be accountable for governance of payroll data and work with our Payroll execution team to implement and maintain country payroll controls
  • Conduct close of pay activities for multiple operations; including statutory payments, variance checking and governance and business specific remuneration data
  • Be accountable for payroll corrections and work with our payroll administration and execution teams for resolution and prioritisation of outcomes
  • Support the deployment of relevant regional payroll process improvement projects and initiatives working with our
  • Global Experience Owners and external payroll administration and execution teams.
  • Support HR Data uplift through complex analysis of payroll data working closely with our HR Service Delivery Principals and Specialists for resolution
  • Assist with complex payroll queries from across our Australian businesses; including local legislative requirements, leave reconciliations, superannuation and payroll adjustments
  • Support our payroll execution team in the Australian Year End process
  • Perform and/or support root cause analysis on payroll issues with multiple stakeholders across Human Resources
  • Provide subject matter advice on Country and Asset specific payroll processes, reporting and error handling procedures
  • Develop strong working relationship with HR processing teams to support escalation of cases and prioritization of work
  • Monitor and analyse recurring issues and like-cases to identify common themes, in order to form insights as to improvement opportunities to be addressed


  • Skills and Other Qualifications

  • To be successful in this role you will be an experienced and skilled HR professional with Australian payroll experience. You will possess strong HR process governance skills, coupled with a keen eye for detail.
  • Your strong stakeholder engagement, communication, customer service, problem solving and organisational skills will be assets, as will your attention to detail and your talent to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders to influence outcomes.
  • You will be motivated towards continuous improvement to enable simplification, efficiency and effectiveness of the function.
