Our client is an ambitious PE backed manufacturer and online retailer who is seeking a driven and commercial financial leader looking for a role in a high growth, e-commerce environment. Reporting directly to the CEO, the role of the FD is pivotal in driving the strategic growth and development of the business. As part of the Senior Management team, the FD will play a key role in business planning and strategy formation, alongside managing a high performing team to deliver the highest standards of financial practice. The organisation already profit from steady export sales but they plan to drive further growth internationally by establishing an additional base within mainland Europe and potentially Northern America.

Duties and

responsibilities:

  • Supporting the CEO and Directors, providing strategic, analytical and financial advice to inform key decisions and plans.
  • Leading and implementing a robust financial control framework, process improvements, systems and control to support growth.
  • Take a direct lead in appraising opportunities and risks in the business strategy, providing the Board of Directors and Senior Management Team with accurate and informative data.
  • Management and development of a small but highly effective finance team responsible for delivering accurate and timely forecasting, budgeting, cashflow, financial analysis to the Board of Directors.
  • Ensure all internal processes within finance are compliant with statutory regulations and legislation.
  • Manage year end statutory accounts preparation and submission, oversee month end accounting process and ensure all financial recording is accurate for both internal and external auditing.
  • Work closely with external accountancy firm on all financial matters.
  • Appropriate tax planning and compliance in line with accounting requirements.
  • Own UK and International VAT requirements, monitoring European sales to ensure VAT compliance with trigger levels.
  • International currency management with trade conducted in Sterling, US Dollars and Euros.
  • Purchasing currency and managing the hedging process.
  • Manage relations with third parties such as Accountancy and Audit firms, Legal Firms, Insurance Brokers, Pension and Benefit providers and other professional bodies.
  • Work with Insurance Brokers to ensure the business maintains adequate and appropriate levels of cover and meets all statutory requirements.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • A fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA or ACCA) with a proven track record in a finance leadership role, ideally within an international setting.
  • Strong experience of developing financial controls, procedures and financial management systems.
  • Experienced in managing and developing a small finance team; hands-on with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proven confidence and ability to present and contribute at Board level offering strategic and commercial guidance to the Board.
  • A strong team player, able to adapt to work with people at all levels both externally and internally.
  • Strong commercial awareness and key negotiating skills.
  • Experience of e-commerce and manufacturing environments would be advantageous as would experience of international trading.

The role is based in North Newcastle and they require a minimum of 4 days per week on site. This role has the potential of progressing into a CEO opportunity for the right individual. The position offers a good base salary, a competitive benefits package and potential share options. The salary banding advertised is a guideline, the remuneration offered will be commensurate upon experience.
