With Business Units dispersed geographically throughout the UK, our teams are supported by a central Finance function which provides financial reporting and business insight to allow our management teams to make informed commercial decisions.

To support continued organic and in-organic growth, we are looking to strengthen our Finance team with the appointment of a fully or part qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) Management Accountant who will report into the UK Finance Director and hold financial responsibility for a portfolio of Business Units.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Submission of timely Management Accounts to Sword Group head office.
  • Month end journal posting including WIP, prepayments, accruals, holiday provisions etc.
  • Management Accounts and Balance Sheet Reconciliations.
  • Production of monthly Management analytic reports.
  • Liaising with business unit managers to ensure they fully understand the financial performance of the business unit.
  • Ensuring that Intercompany balances reconcile on a monthly basis.
  • Preparation of cash flow forecasts.
  • Management of VAT and corporation tax returns.
  • Finalisation and entry of month end statutory accounts onto Head Office consolidation software.
  • Contribute to half-year review and year end statutory audit.
  • Liaise with auditors for preparation of company statutory accounts.
  • Preparation of the annual budget with input from the Business Unit Directors.
  • Ensure compliance with Group accounting policies.
  • Supervise and manage financial department staff.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting, business, finance or a related field.
  • Fully or part qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Several years of experience in a similar role.

Personal Competencies:

  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Good understanding of Excel.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
