Our client, a niche SME construction equipment supplier and engineering business, requires a dynamic and hands-on Company Accountant / Finance Director to support the business on its continued growth journey. Working closely with the Managing Director, you will be responsible for all the financial aspects of the business including increasing profits, internal audits, management of cash flow and ensuring future growth.

Responsibilities Include:

• Day to day finance, management accounts, year end financial accounts and audits
• Forecasting, budgeting and cash flows
• Management, mentoring and development of a small finance team
• Oversee the continual improvement of financial systems and reporting to ensure maximum clarity, efficiency and effectiveness
• Develop and implement new initiatives and improvements, working closely with senior management taking a proactive approach to business development
• Manage external relationships with customers, auditors, banks, insurers and HMRC
• Operational responsibilities including such as HR, Health & Safety, IT, Payroll, Insurance
• Ad hoc duties as required

Experience Includes:

• fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
• highly astute and technically strong individual with a proven track record in an engineering or hire company.
• methodical with a high level of attention to detail as well as being able to see the bigger picture.
• Experience of internal auditing.
• excellent communication and interpersonal skills to offer outstanding levels of customer service providing timely reliable information / creating confidence with the German parent company.
• strong problem-solving abilities, with a solution driven attitude and the ability to think on your feet.
• Experience of managing, supervising and developing staff.

This role would suit an extremely hands-on company accountant / FD or accountant in a number 1 role with experience in a small SME environment, and within a relevant industry such as construction, engineering, hire or manufacturing. You will need to be a proactive leader willing to roll your sleeves up and a willingness to get involved in the wider business.
