The Vice-President (Operations and Finance) will join McMaster University at an exciting time, as it launches a new Strategic Plan with a vision to create impact, ambition and transformation through excellence, inclusion and community, and an overall goal of advancing human and societal health and well-being.

Founded in 1887 and recognized as one of Canada’s research-intensive U15 institutions, McMaster University has achieved an international reputation as a centre of excellence for teaching and learning, innovation, and creativity. McMaster is a research-intensive, student-centred university focused on preparing its students to be engaged and thoughtful citizens, equipped with the skills, knowledge, resilience, and understanding needed to make a positive and effective contribution to the world. In addition to providing an outstanding, personalized learning environment for their students, the University has the ability and the creativity, across all six Faculties, to partner and collaborate on the knowledge, discoveries and innovation that are needed to make a positive and decisive impact on our society and world.

As a member of the leadership team reporting directly to the President and Vice-Chancellor, the Vice-President (Operations and Finance) will work, along with the other Vice-Presidents, to support and advance the academic, teaching and research mission of the University. The Vice-President (Operations and Finance) is the chief administrative officer, accountable for the planning, development, and application of the University’s resources. As a vitally important member of the senior management team, the Vice-President (Operations and Finance) will ensure the financial, physical, human resources, information technology, ancillary, and administrative support services of the University are effectively utilized, protected, and developed in support of the academy.

You have demonstrated that you are innovative and able to envision and introduce new ideas, systems, processes and programs, and are committed to moving McMaster forward in the areas of sustainability, environmental stewardship, accessibility and operational excellence. You possess the strategic acumen and global thinking to enable you to set your sights on the horizon, to understand the goals of the University and to translate them into plans that support the University’s mission, enable students, faculty and staff to realize their goals, and ensure McMaster’s sustainability in the broadest sense.
