REGIONAL RISK COORDINATOR

Located in the Riverland region of South Australia

What can you expect?

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Risk Consultant, to partner with the Councils from the Riverland region (Predominantly servicing some of the Councils within the area, including Berri Barmera, Loxton Waikerie, Renmark Paringa and Mid Murray, as well as Goyder). The successful Risk Consultant will assist to drive the direction of the Region in the pivotal areas of Risk Management and Workers' Health and Safety, whilst providing technical and practical support in the evolving risk environment

This role will be an essential link between the Regional Councils, the Regional Risk Services programme and the Adelaide based Indemnity Schemes, to promote a consistent whole of business Risk Management culture, including the essential Workers Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS). Knowledge of the Local Government industry, general risk management process (ISO 31000), relevant legislation, Industry Practice Standards and/or Self Insurer Performance Standards will be well regarded.

  • In this role you will be responsible for:
  • Provide cost effective advice and risk management assistance both written and verbal to scheme members on civil liability issues
  • Investigate claims and prepare comprehensive reports to assist claims dept
  • Undertake risk management reviews and prepare reports detailing recommendations
  • Contribute to the preparation of information including statistics, manuals and newsletters
  • Identify training needs and develop appropriate training sessions, seminars and workshops
  • Establish effective communication with scheme staff, members, government bodies and private enterprise which is relevant to local government

  • To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

    Crucial to your success in this role is your experience within risk management and the ability to effectively communicate, problem solve, influence and build credible relationships at all levels; both internally and with clients. Strong organisation and planning and presentation skills, as well the ability to work with high levels of initiative and to strict deadlines are essential in this role.
