Interim Finance Manager/Financial Controller to cover maternity leave for a leading, national public supplier

Your new company
I'm delighted to be working with a leading employer of choice with a national footprint, who supply services to the public through major long-term contracts.

Following a maternity cover requirement, this business are looking to add to their team for an initial 6 month time frame with an additional 6 months time period possible.

The organisation are part way through a major, multi-billion pound contract, with a significant footprint in the Sheffield/South Yorkshire area.

Your new role
You'll be part of a c.£45m t/o p/y team, a very high profile structure across the wider organisation, reporting into the Head of Finance and key internal stakeholders at SLT. You'll join the business with a brief period of handover with the current incumbent before they go on maternity leave at the end of May.

This is a key role to the organisation, and you will oversee a team of c.5 people in the Sheffield site who hold key worker status and as such, are fully operational in current times. With the support of the Head of Finance, you'll oversee this small team of junior staff across transactional administration and management accounts, whilst holding responsibility for providing financial and commercial support to executive stakeholders, driving forward successful decision making and business performance. You will also be responsible for monthly accounts production, and the budgeting and forecasting reporting.

This is a commercially focused Finance position that will work closely with key commercial and operational stakeholders to manage contract performance, as well as key stakeholders across the group. Due to the long term duration of the client contract, you'll inherit some strongly developed Excel models, interpreting and up-keeping them until the current incumbent returns to work.

Overall, you'll be prepared to 'get your hands dirty'. The role will encompass lots of modelling and systems transaction work, and you'll be producing full sets of accounts alongside monthly budgeting and forecasting reporting.

What you'll need to succeed
You'll be a qualified accountant, with experience engaging with key senior stakeholders across the organisation including FD's and MD's.
You'll be speaking regularly with key senior stakeholders and presenting to board level representatives based on your forecasting and modelling, so comfort and experience engaging at this level is essential.

Overall, you'll be comfortable producing sets of accounts, but predominantly be capable and competent at producing long term forecasts and financial models, particularly in Excel.

Experience of using SAP would be beneficial, however not essential, and experience working in large scale, complex contracts would also be beneficial. If you have exposure or experience in construction, transportation or infrastructure, this would also be beneficial.

What you'll get in return
The role will initially require some 'hands on' in-office presence, however once you've completed a full handover with the current incumbent and established comfortability with direct reports, the role will develop into a hybrid working structure with a 2/3 or 3/2 in office/home working format, working in a Covid secure environment.

The role will pay c.£400 p/d with potential flexibility for a particularly well-qualified candidate (PAYE or Umbrella only).
Immediate start available.
