The Role

As the Financial Control Leader, you will manage the Suncorp Group Advice & Delivery (GAD) Financial control team alongside the Genpact service providers to achieve month end closure, ensure the accuracy and timeliness of accounting, payments and reporting. Furthermore, the role will ensure financial controls are in place to safeguard the integrity of the accounting and reporting for corporate entities and follow the month end close process including preparation of journals and balance sheet reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the month end, quarterly and annual ledger close cycle GAD Entities
  • Ensure the accurate and timely delivery of all month end deliverables and maintain accountability for general ledger integrity for all entities
  • Support the FS teams as required including the delivery of GAD Financial Statements and contribution to consolidated Group Financial Statements
  • Manage the establishment of new and redesign of existing business E2E processes, ensuring more robust financial control
  • Manage, facilitate and/or contribute to the governance of financial reporting process
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors on delivering audit requirements and resolving audit issues
  • Manage the funding of the Group's interim/final dividends and capital instrument payments
  • Responsible for the detailed review and completion of impairment assessments of goodwill and other intangible assets, investment in subsidiaries and other assets as appropriate.
  • Provide support and/or attend management board meetings relating to financial report approvals
  • Work collaboratively with the LoB and the Finance Community on projects and other ad-hoc activities

  • Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years financial accounting experience, preferably within financial services
  • Proven track record of leading and working in large teams across a matrix environment
  • Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and financial statement disclosures
  • Ability to apply technical accounting skills in a practical manner to achieve problem identification / resolution
  • Proficiency in finance systems (e.g. Oracle, IBM TM1, IBM Cognos Disclosure Management)
  • Strong awareness and support of risk management framework and practices
  • Ability to apply technical accounting skills in a practical manner to achieve problem identification / resolution
  • Credible with both senior management and members of Operating Business Unit Finance Teams
