Your new role
Our client is currently looking to recruit an ambitious and highly motivated Management Accountant to join the UK Finance team, based in Bradford, with responsibility for the day to day management of the accounting function and the production of the management accounts and other associated management information. Providing direct support to the Financial Controller, the role will include the following:
- Preparation of monthly management accounts
- Balance sheet control account reconciliations (stock, debtors, creditors, payroll etc.)
- Multi-currency bank reconciliations
- Maintenance of the Fixed Asset register including managing and designing the capital expenditure approval process
- Production and submission of VAT returns, plus any other statutory documentation as required e.g. Intrastat returns
- Devising a robust monthly forecasting process, with reconciliation and comparison to monthly and annual budgets
- P&L variance analysis and commentary, including payroll reviews
- Preparation and implementation of Sox controls on a monthly basis
- Responsibility for administering the fortnightly payment runs to suppliers
- Interaction with operational managers to obtain explanations and provide management reports
- Supervision of staff responsible for the maintenance of the purchase ledger, sales ledger and general ledger control accounts
- General ledger management, including journal production and entry as needed
- Other ad-hoc activities as required
The Group has a strict structure of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, so the applicants need to be comfortable working to externally imposed deadlines.
What you'll need to succeed
- Formal accountancy training and qualification required
- 2/3 years post qualified experience preferred
- Excel proficiency to a high standard
- Enthusiastic individual that is keen to learn, get involved and develop and improve processes
- High level of organisation, able to manage own workload to meet tight deadlines
- Team player, who is keen to build relationships with colleagues both above and below them in the finance and operational teams
- Ability to compile, analyse and review data to a high level of accuracy
- Good communication skills, both written and verbally
