Job Purpose

IWG has 40 entities in Malaysia and Singapore and this person will be responsible for Leading Tax Reporting process for multiple APAC countries, encompassing GST/VAT/WHT, CIT, TP/CBC reporting.

Key Responsibilities

CIT
  • Develop and implement a monthly or quarterly in-house CIT computation process which incorporates the detailed income tax rules and regulations (i.e. non allowable expenditure, double deduction, thin capitalization workings, etc.) as well as maintenance of the Tax FAR;
  • Maintenance of a tracker of income tax instalment/prepayment schedule for timely revision with Authority when necessary;

  • GST/VAT
  • Develop and maintain an up-to-date local GST/VAT filing checklist
  • Review GST/VAT filing for in-house filing and develop and lead GST/VAT peer review structure within the team
  • Review and assess the rules around 'high-risk' outsourced countries with the long-term plan of insourcing/streamlining

  • WHT
  • Maintain documentation/depository of various WHT rules and ensure updated information on Global WHT tracker
  • Develop and maintain the WHT checklist which includes Foreign suppliers and Related parties transactions
  • Work closely with AP/Vendor Master Team to ensure various WHT rules/rate are reviewed and updated when changes occur

  • TP/CBC
  • Work with Group Tax and GSC InterCo team to ensure consistent information are submitted for various CBC reporting locally and Group level
  • Develop some checks and consistent approach to ensure all intercompany transactions are reported accurately

  • Process Documentation/Improvement project
  • Develop and maintain an up-to-date process documentation for various tax processes and rules
  • Implement ad-hoc review process of various taxes
  • Keeping track and leading discussion of open issues/ areas of improvement of various tax processes with GSC/Group Tax
  • Key point of contact on process automation with GSC/Dynamics team/Group Tax
  • Work in collaboration with LSC (local country compliance team) and GSC (global shared service centre) to ensure timely and accurate filing of all direct & indirect taxes
  • Act as the key point of contact and support for our local and regional taxation matters; supporting Tax audit/inquiry matter.


  • Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Tax and/or accounting qualification.
  • Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in Direct and Indirect Taxation matters with a public accounting firm and/or experience in Tax Team in a multi-national corporations at regional level.
  • General knowledge of local country taxation requirements in Asia countries, for example Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia etc.
  • Have experience and possess good understanding of TP rules and requirement such as CBC requirement of various countries.
  • Experience in tax process automation is a plus.
  • Technically strong in the areas of direct and indirect taxes, collaborative, excellent tax research skills.
  • Excellent communication skills - will need to be very good at working remotely but interacting effectively with the GSC and LSC.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining accounting policies, procedures, systems and internal controls around taxation process.
