Job Details

Responsible for the management of the entire finance function and reporting to the board's committee structure including Finance and Investment Committee (FIC), and Audit and Risk Committee (ARC). Acts as Finance Director for the Board of the trading subsidiary.

Description

Lead in the production of directorate annual financial plans, to include overseeing the support provided to budget holders, preparing supporting information for and leading the director level review sessions, preparing a detailed budget report for FIC and ISL Board and supporting the DoFC in presenting the annual financial plans to the committees.

Support the DoFC to produce medium term financial plans based on the strategic objectives of both the trading subsidiary and the charity.

Build partnerships and maintain strong relationships with all directors, senior managers and their teams challenging, influencing and advising on directorate activity providing analysis and delivering insight that links financial reports to business strategies and improves the impact and understanding of financial reporting on business performance.

Oversee the production of the monthly financial position within monthly timetables including production of income and expenditure accounts; variance analysis; assisting directorates with recovery plans and production of robust and detailed year end forecasts.

Produce and present audience appropriate financial reports to the boards sub committees outlining the operational detail behind the numbers and provide assurance to committee members. In addition to standard reporting pack produce ad hoc financial reports for the committees as and when required to do so in line with the committees' requirements and the annual workplan.

Support the F&C director's decision-making process by undertaking an assurance role as a non-voting member of the Business Management Group, working alongside senior managers to both support in the production and scrutiny of financial modelling for business cases.

Co-ordinate and lead the production of Cost Improvement Plans (CIPs) assisting directorates in the identification of cost improvement plans, monitoring performance against CIPs explaining any significant variance against plan in year and for forecast.

To develop with directorates, an awareness of financial performance requirements, and the need for budgetary control, undertaking periodic reviews of financial control identify weaknesses and potential solutions.

To co-ordinate and lead the support with the production of resource bids, events and projects, assisting managers in the production of complex revenue and capital funding bids and making recommendations where opinions may conflict.

Lead the finance function to continuously identify and improve the effectiveness of accounting systems and financial reporting; ensure effective commercial procedures to ensure key operational, commercial and financial targets are delivered.

Recruit, train, lead manage, motivate and develop staff to achieve deadlines, agreed work plans and service standards and to provide a customer focussed support service.

Profile

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a track record within the charity or not-for-profit sector.

You will need good communication skills and a passion for leading and motivating direct reports which would include a Head of Financial Services & Finance Business Partner.
