Accounts Assistant

Basis: 12 Months Maternity Cover



Location:
Home based initially but then moving to an office based role in Colchester as and when a relaxing of Covid restrictions allow, Candidates will need to be able to commute to Stanway Retail Park, Colchester.

Target: Accounts Assistant with minimum 1 years' experience in a similar Accounts setting

Rewards: Up to £18K-£21K D.O.E plus benefits

Working Hours: Monday-Friday 9.00 AM-5.30 PM

Through our range of individual brands we specialise in facilitating the sales of new homes working with house builders, lenders and a nationwide network of estate agents. We offer a broad range of Mortgage Services together with Part Exchange, and Assisted Move. We work with most of the UK's top 25 house builders.

In 2020 we handled over 15,000 mortgage applications and this ensures our Accounts team are always kept busy. We are now looking to appoint an Accounts Assistant for a 12 months maternity cover to join our accounts team who will report directly to our Finance Manager.

Main Purpose of Role:

  • To arrange payment of all invoices within our agreed terms and conditions
  • To assist the Group Financial Controller in completion of Month End and Year End timetables
  • To highlight any areas of weakness which affects the efficiency and productivity of the Group

Key Areas of

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively supervise interactions and communications with internal and external customers
  • Promote and build constructive and productive working relationships with internal personnel
  • The Main accounts payable contact for the business for invoice receipt, queries and authorisation
  • Process monthly and ad-hoc invoices to customers
  • Maintain cashbooks and banking
  • The processing of all mortgage and Insurance commission statements
  • To assist the Assistant Accountant with month end accounts, journals and reconciliations
  • Ensure staff expense returns are paid in accordance with the expenses policy
  • Provide support to Assistant Accountant and Group Financial Controller as and when required
  • Ad-hoc duties/projects as and when required

Knowledge, skills and qualifications:

  • Team player with a motivational and proactive approach
  • Self-motivated and highly organised with the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Outlook, as well as experience and understanding of credit control and accounts payable systems
  • Excellent inter-personal and presentation skills
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
