Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Lead Manager for Countries' financial reporting process in the KL Shared Service Center for Asia Region, the manager for Japan reporting segment will play a critical role in completing the financial accounting and reporting activities for the Japan segment on a consolidated basis.

The area of responsibility covers US GAAP reporting, overall analysis, review and reconciliation, and other production support works for the Japan segment. This includes posting adjusted journal entries to the general ledger, performing intercompany reconciliation, completing production works for Japan segment reporting including quarterly footnotes, disclosures and exhibits, and preparing monthly management reports on the Japan segment financial results on US GAAP basis.

This role expects to work closely with Japan controllers on production aspects of the accounting close as well as to work closely with Asia Regional Office located in Hong Kong for efficient and effective Asia regional reporting process.

The role ensures the alignment of systems and data with agreed processes, procedures and outcomes, identifies the interrelationship of systems, data and processes, and assesses the impact of changes on the ability to effectively and efficiently deliver business outcomes. This includes partnership with the global financial services team.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Perform monthly, quarterly and annual accounting activities for Japan USGAAP reporting, including preparing and reviewing adjusted journal entries and financial reports in accordance with sign-off procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and financial management process
  • Oversee the intercompany transaction reconciliation and reporting process on a USGAAP basis
  • Coordinate the monthly closing process with Japan controllers and Asia Regional controllers handles with it
  • Assist with the analysis and review of Japan's financial disclosure and exhibits on a US GAAP basis
  • Work closely with internal and external auditors for their review of financial disclosures and exhibits
  • Work closely with Japan controllers to establish and maintain the standardized process for the country's financial reporting
  • Develop and document processes to improve and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the processes
  • Guide accounting staff by coordinating activities and answering questions
  • Assist with overall balance sheet certification process
  • Work closely with the global financial services team on financial systems maintenance and change requests
  • Drive/support the global finance projects and ad hoc requests
  • Liaise with different groups in the organization to build strong relationships



  • Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Required/Preferred:

    Required:
  • CPA/CMA or equivalent qualification
  • Detailed accounting knowledge for financial accounting & reporting
  • 5+ years of experience in US GAAP / IFRS reporting and production or in auditing the financial statements based on a USGAAP / IFRS
  • Intermediate office application skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, or equivalents
  • Well-organized, detail oriented and able to efficiently function under pressure
  • Self-motivated and taking initiative with minimal supervision
  • Possess accountability and ownership of standardized and efficient operational processes
  • A good team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, necessary for interactions with internal and external parties at various levels.
  • Excellent ability to analyze financial data and problem-solving skills to address the various ad hoc report and the financial issues
  • Ability to motivate others and willingness to achieve key targets and objectives

  • Preferred:


  • Experience in performing the financial accounting and reporting tasks with ERP systems, especially with PeopleSoft and Oracle Hyperion Financial Management
  • Experience in implementation, maintenance, enhancement and documentation of financial accounting systems.
