As one of the largest regeneration projects in the UK, Barking Riverside is a brand-new riverfront town in East London delivering a thriving new eco-district comprising of 10,800 homes, new schools, commercial and cultural offerings along 2km of beautiful south-facing Thames river frontage.



Reporting to the Deputy Managing Director - Finance and Strategy the successful candidate will take on full responsibility for all financial matters from preparing the financial statements to managing and optimising the business plan. Back office finance functions are outsourced and managing these relationships to ensure a high-quality service will be an important part of the role.



The role includes:




  • Full preparation of statutory accounts and management of the annual audit

  • Managing lender relationships with BRL's key funders

  • Collaboratively setting and presenting annual and project budgets

  • Managing and communicating the companies long term business plan

  • Enhancing and refining financial controls,

  • Reporting financial performance and forecasting to shareholders and key stakeholders

  • Managing and reporting of the companies cashflow position

  • Supporting the diverse team to deliver projects on time and on budget

  • Building and developing a small team of qualified finance professionals

  • Using creative thinking to add value and deliver the ambition to make Barking Riverside a success not just in the next 10 years but deliver a legacy we can all be proud of.



This position requires a strong finance professional capable of managing and motivating a small team to meet the company's ambitious plans. You will be required to manage all financial and business support aspects of the company's operations, controlling and reporting on financial matters as well as supporting the operational directors and wider team. A strong focus on customer service will be essential, working to understand business issues and support delivery of a highly ambitious programme.



You will need good problem solving abilities, be a first rate communicator and presenter, with well rounded analytical and interpersonal skills. In addition, effective business planning skills, budgetary control and an exceptionally high level of computer literacy (Excel and Word) are required.



Your experience must include:




  • Qualified Accountant with a strong academic record

  • Experience of management and financial reporting in a corporate entity

  • Experience of working in property/construction

  • Experience of JV structures and Board reporting

  • Experience of producing and managing complex financial models and business plans

Barking Riverside London is a joint venture between the Mayor of London and L&Q to deliver a quality led new riverfront town in East London comprising of 10,800 homes, a new rail station, new schools and commercial and cultural offerings along 2km of south-facing Thames river frontage. Barking Riverside London will feature healthcare, schools, open space, public squares, new rail and river connections into central London, up to 65,000 sq.m. of commercial floor space including shopping, community and leisure facilities.



Most excitingly, there is an ambition to connect a new generation of Londoners to the River Thames and to design and deliver facilities, services and projects on the river frontage to create a new night-time economy in this part of the borough.



As one of the largest developments in the UK, this ambitious project is gaining momentum with a programme committed to facilitating delivery of up to 600 new homes a year for the next 15 years.



As Master Developer Barking Riverside is responsible for taking forward and coordinating all aspects of the design and development process as well as implementing the infrastructure works to transform the former power station site into a high quality development and help build a thriving, healthy community.
