Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
The team is based in Auckland city and consists of Data Scientists and Business Analysts from Ministry for Primary Industries, New Zealand Customs Service, and the Immigration New Zealand.
Your key responsibility in this role will be connecting with stakeholders and building relationships across the organisations. You will need to be an expert communicator who can talk to customers about complex data science and take them on a journey to understand the value of data.
Other key tasks will be:

* Understanding business needs and translating them into requirements for Data Scientists
* Assisting with data visualisation
* Developing business processes
* Reporting product development progress
* Creating handovers and training for customers
* Coaching and mentoring team members on stakeholder management

Mōu - About You
You will be:

* Able to take all our customers on a Data Science journey, including senior leadership level stakeholders
* Confident explaining ideas in a visual format
* Bringing experience working in a public sector, data science, environmental science or communications environment
* Experienced with requirements identification and lifecycle management
* Skilled in analytical thinking and problem solving
* Comfortable making sense of ambiguity and finding a clear way forward to deliver high value products
* Comfortable coaching and mentoring Data Scientists and Business Analysts

The salary for this role is circa D and E: $75k to $108k depending on skills and experience.

Low level Security Clearance

* most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided continuously in NZ for at least the last five (5) years, OR
* is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five (5) years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
