We are delighted to be working exclusively on a brilliant opportunity for an up and coming Qualified Accountant to leap into a varied and all encompassing Financial Controller role. The business are a multi national manufacturing business, based in Sheffield, who are at the high end of their field. With a large group wide period of change currently in place, the role offers a superb opportunity for someone ambitious to come in and take the position by the horns and put their own stamp on the department.

The Finance Controller reports into the UK Finance Director, with a succession plan being a real option for someone with the right credentials and ambition. The UK FD will be looking for this person to be a genuine number 2, someone they can lean on at all times and someone who can be trusted with the day to day management of the Finance team.

Whilst it is a small team on site, there is a range of levels, including a Qualified Accountant - meaning the FC role can focus less on the posting and more on the final compilation of the accounts and the subsequent analysis of the numbers. That analysis will be supported by a thorough understanding of the business, with there being a need for the FC to act as a true Finance Business Partner, being visible on the shop floor and working closely with Operations. This person will be looked upon to help lead positive change throughout the site, giving the person plenty of chances to make a significant impact.

The exposure to the International Head Office will be widespread, from general reporting to annual tasks such as budgeting and forecasting - followed by subsequent analysis and reforecasting. Alongside a close working relationship with the UK Finance Director, this will ensure this candidate will be in prime position to be the next UK FD.

The Finance Director is looking for a Qualified Accountant who, whilst being technically strong, has a passion for the more commercial and operational side of finance. Manufacturing experience would be preferable, but more essential is the driven and dynamic personality to work in a fast paced and ever changing environment where the standards are high and the desire to change processes for the better is always there.
