An opportunity has arisen in the National Management Accounting team to provide business partnering support the Department's Biodiversity and Engagement Group and its senior leadership team, to enable them to achieve their financial and operational goals. The Senior National Management Accountant position is a permanent position, reporting into the National Management Accounting Manager.
He angitūtanga: About the Role
As part of a close-knit finance team you will have the opportunity to be involved in a broad range of functions including business case development, performance reporting, influencing decision making, forecasting and budgeting. This role will allow you to hone your leadership and engagement skills with senior leadership teams.
You will be the financial expert and first point of contact for the Biodiversity and Engagement Group and across the finance team.
Key role responsibilities include:
* Provide strategic financial analysis and advice to the Group;
* Monitor and analyse performance, prepare internal reports and perform month end management accounting functions;
* To provide support, advice and quality assurance on business cases;
* Perform and support the Group's budgeting requirements, monthly variance reporting, forecasting and baseline updates;
* Provide specialist input to cross functional initiatives / projects / meetings;
* Provide advice for and assist in the preparation of Cabinet papers, briefing papers and responses to OIA and Select Committee requests;
* Develop financial models and improve systems and processes in line with industry best practice.

* A strong business partnering focus, skilled at identifying and responding to user needs;
* Proven experience in advising, supporting and engaging with senior leadership teams;
* Strong team/process planning and co-ordinating skills;
* Proven problem-solving ability and exceptional communication skills;
* The ability to explain financial processes to non-financial managers;
* A commitment to pro-active service delivery, able to self-manage and to strive for excellence;
* An accounting qualification and/or relevant senior management accounting experience.
