Job Details

The Financial Controller role will be responsible for the Company's Financial Planning and Analysis function. This position will be responsible for a team of 3 staff members.

The Financial Controller role will play a key role in driving forward necessary process improvements to ensure an efficient daily & monthly routine is embedded, which delivers reliable, accurate & timely information to the Senior Management Team.

Our client is a dynamic & fast-paced, growing Scottish Group employing over 100 staff based in North Lanarkshire. The Group's interests include construction, property management, investment and technology.

Description

The Financial Controller will have the following duties;

  • Support the Finance Director in developing policies & procedures that are fit for purpose
  • Day to day responsibility for ensuring that the Finance Team are operating in line with agreed procedures
  • To understand and ensure that the capabilities of the Group's Finance systems (SAGE & TRAMPS) are being fully utilised (auto-bank reconciliation, electronic remittance advices, direct debit manager functionality)
  • Ensure accurate coding of revenue, cost and asset postings
  • Maintain control over the Group's nominal ledger structure
  • Responsibility for the accuracy and control of the Month End close process
  • Responsibility for the accuracy and control of Budget and Forecast process
  • Responsibility for the accuracy and control of the Year End process
  • Responsibility for the accuracy, control and reconciliation of the Balance Sheet
  • Review and authorisation of monthly & ad-hoc payment runs
  • Review and approval of weekly payroll & monthly salary submissions
  • Review and approval of CIS & VAT returns
  • Responsibility for ensuring that daily banking postings are being undertaken and bank accounts reconciled on a regular basis
  • Production of ad-hoc information requests, as required

Profile

The Financial Controller will likely have the following profile;

  • ICAS/ ACCA/ CIMA qualified
  • Working knowledge of a finance role in a Group structure or a similar sized business
  • High degree of self-motivation and initiative to identify and drive forward process improvements & efficiencies.
  • Ability to organise workload of team to ensure regular monthly deadlines are achieved
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office packages, with requirement for strong Excel knowledge
  • Knowledge of SAGE 200 accounts or TRAMPS property management system desirable

Job Offer

My client will offer the Financial Controller the following package;

  • £45,000 - £50,000 per annum
  • 31 days annual leave (including PHs)
  • 4x DIS
