This is an exciting time to join an organisation that probably doesn't work how you'd imagine a government organisation would! You would work in a customer group called CDIO (Chief Digital Information office) which will sit within the Finance Delivery Team and RAG team. Although now we are working from home, in the future there will be expectations to come to the base office for this role which is in our lovely Telford office once office working resumes.


Risk, Assurance & Governance Team - (RAG)


We are a central team that supports and enables a strong risk and assurance culture within CDIO. Your role supports the delivery of risk, control, assurance and governance services, including commitments to HMRC on behalf of the Director General, aligning with National Audit Office (NAO), Internal Audit (IA) and HMRC corporate governance requirements. Our team is crucial within HMRC.


The role provides good opportunities to collaborate and build relationships across CDIO and HMRC risk, assurance and governance communities.

The Role


We want someone to excel with us in the RAG team and in this position, so you will be encouraged to work on and upskill your responsibilities and experience. Specifically, within: -


People Leadership and Management


Apply leadership skills to support the team to maintain an in-depth knowledge of CDIO. Use that knowledge to challenge and improve CDIO business risk and assurance management. Fulfil delegated duties of the Heads of RAG.


Governance


Develop and maintain risk, control and assurance frameworks and ensure alignment with those policies and standards.


Assurance Management


Support the delivery and embedding of CDIO Assurance and Control Frameworks and deliver assurance reviews arising from the annual CDIO Assurance Plan. Produce the findings and recommendations/reports.


Support the strengthening of CDIO's second-line assurance provision; aligning and continuously improving RAG activity. Support the development of a CDIO control register and promote the HMRC Control & Risk Register Tool (CARR Tool). Deliver a source of central expertise to support business process owners in their understanding of the CARR Tool requirements and detailing CDIO key business processes, risks and controls.


Risk Management


Deliver business analysis of risk, audit and assurance recommendations to advise Risk & Assurance Board reviews and decisions while delivering a source of central expertise to CDIO to respond to business commissions and pro-actively drive improvements to the maturity of RAG practices. Lead and develop CDIO risk and assurance communities to promote best practice.


Integrate risk and assurance into the planning, performance and financial management processes owned by CDIO Finance. Deliver a framework of RAG education to meet the development plans and requirements of CDIO delivery areas and leaders and staff.

• Proven experience of delivering business analysis of risk and assurance


• Evidence of assurance experience
