The Position:
Perseus is seeking a Sr Tax Analyst who will report to Sr Tax Manager. The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for assisting with the US and Canadian Income tax compliance including the preparation of tax provisions, along with planning and reporting requirements of the group. The successful candidate will play an integral role in identifying and implementing best practices and optimizing the corporation's tax structure.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of the US Federal Tax Return Proformas and US Stand Alone State Tax Returns
  • Assist with the preparation of the US Federal and State extension forms
  • Assist with the preparation of US Municipal and City returns
  • Assist with US quarterly payments and tax notice responses for both the Federal and State levels.
  • Prepare and file corporate income tax returns, elections and remittances in a timely and accurate manner in all jurisdictions across Canada.
  • Coordinate the preparation and filing of corporate tax returns across multiple foreign jurisdictions.
  • Prepare current and deferred tax provisions for financial reporting.
  • Assist in tax research and planning assignments incorporating tax laws of multiple North American jurisdictions; including, but not limited to, basis calculations.
  • Interface with tax authorities, including assisting in the coordination of tax audits and preparation of responses.
  • Coordinate with the corporate finance team and business units to obtain tax compliance information and to provide tax guidance as necessary.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of tax-related accounting and external financial reporting, including the recognition of tax effects on various transactions and events.
  • Keep abreast of the latest tax developments and issues that impact the organization such as changes in legislation, court decisions, rulings, etc.
  • Assist in ad hoc tax projects as required.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree with a major in accounting or finance
  • CIMA professional qualification
  • Experience in CAN tax filing preparation would be considered an asset
  • Experience in the preparation and completion of complex US tax returns
  • Experience in the preparation and review of tax provisions
  • Familiarity with Canadian and US tax research software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior management as well as external parties.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities to meet tight deadlines.
  • Great team player with the ability to anticipate and proactively resolve issues.
  • Strong working knowledge of Great Plains accounting systems, CAN TaxPrep, US OneSource tax software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Experience:

A minimum of 4 years of relevant practical experience is required
