3-6 MONTH INTERIM CONTRACT/ BASED FROM HOME / INSIDE IR35

The Responsible Business Director will lead our responsible business team of 7 colleagues in the interim to continue to deliver programmes against our responsible business strategy, focusing on our community and environment programmes. You will also be responsible for meeting our legal obligations under the Gender Pay Gap reporting requirements and Modern Slavery Act. You will be a strong communicator (verbal and written), being able to write senior leadership messaging and brief senior leaders on all things sustainable (community, environment and diversity and inclusion). With the publication of the Responsible Business Report 2020 in March, you will be familiar with sustainability data and be analytical and proficient with numbers - providing evidence-based explanations of why the data is what it is. You will support the Director of Corporate Affairs in shaping the Head of Responsible Business role for the long-term.

Your skills will include;

Climate change - experience of carbon reduction targets and climate change strategies. Experience of net-zero strategies would be desirable;
Community investment - experience of running community and charity programmes engaging with charities;
Diversity and inclusion - in the interim - support the Ethnic Diversity Manager deliver on our commitments to tackle racism.
Data - be familiar with ESG data and rating indices (DJSI, CDP)What we are looking for:

Extensive experience in the sustainability or corporate responsibility field.
Excellent communicator (written and verbal) - evidence of this would be good e.g. internal/external comms piece
Strong leader, who is collaborative and engages well with stakeholders
Analytical and proficient with data
Senior leadership engagement - being able to present to ExCo members and potentially Board
Commercially focused and action-oriented.
Excellent networking and relationship building skills.
Resilient, determined, with the ability to work to deadlines and maintain high levels of professionalism under pressure.You will be responsible for:

Provide the leadership, direction and delivery of the responsible business strategy for Capita across our global operations, aligning our ambitions to our purpose and corporate priorities.
Provide the crucial link between helping to understand and define the social, environmental and economic opportunities and challenges, into practical action.
Design and deliver community, environment, inclusion and wellbeing programmes that engage and excite employees and address the societal challenges that our business and stakeholders face.
Lead compliance with relevant environmental and social legislation and reporting requirements (e.g. Modern Slavery, Gender Pay Gap, Mandatory Greenhouse Gas Reporting).
Own and manage the Responsible Business function's annual budget.
Secure industry-leading rankings in Dow Jones Sustainability Index, FTSE4Good, CDP and other client-relevant benchmarks.
Enter and achieve high profile awards to generate awareness of Capita's responsible business programmes.
Actively support business growth through partnership with the Corporate Affairs and Growth functions to position Capita as a leader and innovator in responsible and sustainable business practices.
Deliver a regular drumbeat of positive communication and PR about Capita's responsible business credentials both locally, nationally and globally.
