Our client, a market-leading niche SME manufacturer with a global presence, is seeking an accomplished and driven Finance Director to support the senior management with the next phase of their growth agenda. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will have primary responsibility for the strategic and operational financial management of the Company as part of the Senior Leadership Team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting, advising and reporting to the MD and Shareholders on all aspects of financial management of the group.
  • Strategic direction, financial leadership, reporting and developing the business relationship with other group entities
  • Reviewing and where appropriate liaising with external organisations to improve internal accounting and admin systems
  • Review, design and implementation of Improved departmental KPI reporting
  • Production of statutory and management accounts, production of consolidated accounts to group level and in line with accounting standards and the group financial reporting timetable
  • Production of group annual budgets, rolling forecasts, variance reports (budget v forecast v actual)
  • Development and review of a business case process to support key expenditure and investment decisions.
  • Producing group audit files and liaising with the group auditors to ensure financial statements are filed within the appropriate deadlines
  • Reviewing and implementing corporate governance and other legal requirements
  • Bank relationship management
  • Management of currency risk.

Qualities required:

  • Qualified Accountant with an appropriate professional qualification (eg ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Proven track record of growth within an SME manufacturing environment
  • Experience within an international setting
  • Technically strong with a hands-on approach and the ability to get into the detail and see the bigger picture at the same time
  • Ability to be a business partner to the MD with the gravitas to influence and lead at senior management level
  • Self-motivated and flexible to thrive in fast growth and change environments
  • Management of a systems implementation
  • M&A experience

To apply, you will be a qualified accountant with experience as a CFO / FD / Chief Financial Officer within an SME manufacturing business, with overseas exposure and currency risk. You will be a very hands-on leader with only a small finance team, keen on the development and mentoring of individuals, and with the ability to get on well at all levels of the business. You will also be a commercial, operational, and strategic leader.
