An exciting senior leadership opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Director of Finance. Reporting into the Executive Director of Finance, you will be responsible for leading the central finance team of 60 staff and will deputise for the Executive Director of Finance, when required. The role leads the reporting requirements of the University, both internal and external, ensures the delivery of key financial processes and plays a significant leadership role in the annual budget and planning round and more broadly in influencing the financial performance of the institution. The role will also attend and lead presentations at several University committees, providing exposure to board level reporting.

You will be an inspiring leader with demonstrable experience to continue the transformation journey of the Finance Department's business partner model, supporting client departments and managers. You will provide accurate and relevant detailed information to key stakeholders across the organisation and act as an agent of change within Finance and across the institution

You will lead the redesign of financial processes to ensure they can meet future demands of the University and deliver clear internal and external financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, facilitating a forward planning culture.

You will bring commercial awareness and skill to ensure business plans and investment proposals are clear and robust, and more broadly influence the financial performance of the institution.

You will be degree qualified or equivalent with membership of a recognised CCAB accounting professional body. With comprehensive knowledge of strategic planning, budgets and forecasts you will hold a broad, technical skillset in all major areas of finance.

Experience of managing teams within a large, complex organisation coupled with the ability to effectively implement change is essential.

You will have the gravitas, influencing and people skills and provide advice to key stakeholders through experience of operating effectively at a senior manager level.
