The Role of Financial Accountant

  • To support the Financial Controller in ensuring the accuracy, timely accounting of transactions and compliance with the internal and external requirements of the ledgers, so that SOX, Internal & External Audit and other compliance/regulatory requirements are met;
  • To provide accounting support to the business as required;

Main Duties/Responsibilities

  • Developing the Accounting function, enhancing processing efficiency and internal controls
  • which will improve control of the business and protect its assets;
  • Supporting the Month End Actuals Reporting production process within the Group timetable
  • ensuring accuracy and on time delivery;
  • Preparing or reviewing monthly accounts reconciliations according to Group requirements;
  • Assisting with the preparation of the statutory reporting within the agreed timescales including
  • liaising with the Auditors;
  • Preparing documentation (and required updates) of the Accounting processes and ensure
  • respective communication across the business;
  • Governance of the master data in the financial systems.
  • Assisting with the preparation of Corporate tax activities;
  • Responsible for the maintenance of SOX narratives;
  • Manage the delivery of the SOX deadlines for testing;
  • Development of a SOX compliance testing plan;
  • Being involved in other occasional Finance projects, reports and analysis as required;
  • Assisting with the preparation of Corporate tax activities;
  • Ensuring that all interactions and engagements are carried out with the highest ethical and
  • professional standards and that all work is accomplished with quality and in accordance with the
  • Company and Corporate values;
  • Support the budget & strategic planning process as necessary.

What are the key (minimum) requirements for a successful Financial Accountant application?

  • Good command of the English language and very articulate;
  • Strong written, verbal and IT communication;
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines is key;
  • Attention to detail of a level that ensure information is correct at the point of publication;
  • Solutions driven attitude;
  • Able to think beyond the moment whilst delivering for the present;
  • Focused on the delivery of Financial goals rather than task driven;
  • Provide the correct information in the right format to customers;
  • Drive proactive analysis and act upon the outcomes of the information;
  • Able to build partnerships with key activities and individuals across the Company for the overall benefit of the business;
  • Meet commitments in a timely manner.
  • Take ownership of information and processes, with a willingness to challenge the status quo;
  • Graduate Chartered Accountant or qualified by experience.
