At HSE, we work with one goal in mind – to help keep Britain’s workforce safe. We are the independent regulator for work-related health and safety in Great Britain, and our work touches virtually every sector of UK industry. Combining experts from every field, we strive to keep people and their working environments as healthy and secure as possible.

The role

This is a business-critical finance role that provides crucial support to our work as a regulator.

Supporting the Head of Finance, you’ll help prepare our overall budget and monthly forecasts, provide advice on accounting issues, and ensure we meet Treasury compliance standards. Collaboration is key to the role as you’ll work with colleagues across HSE to make our financial projects a success.

You’ll also contribute to our wider corporate financial strategy, manage production of our financial reports and lead your own team, making sure they have the right skills to succeed and full access to our training opportunities.

Your background

It’s vital that you’re a CCAB-qualified accountant (or working towards it) and have solid experience in financial analysis, advanced Excel skills and a deep knowledge of financial processes. You’ll also need to be able to deliver at pace, make effective decisions and collaborate easily with others.

Rewards

Everyone at HSE is encouraged to develop their skills and capabilities. You’ll have access to learning and development tailored to your role, and you’ll be encouraged to grow your responsibilities within your role. In terms of benefits, we offer a civil service pension, competitive pay, a range of family friendly policies and up to 30 days annual holiday.

Our work affects people’s lives across the UK, and it’s important that our teams reflect the diversity of the society we work to protect. So we look for people to bring different skills, perspectives and experience from all walks of life, and particularly welcome BAME, disabled and LGBT+ applicants, currently underrepresented in this discipline within HSE.
