Tax Investment Specialist - Glasgow
Eden Scott Client is currently recruiting for Investment Tax Specialist, the successful individual will work in the back-office Operation teams. This is a newly created role. Offering excellent rewards. This role will be based at home due to COVID-19
The successful individual will provide assistance to the Financial Services business and ensure compliance with current CGT rules; to investigate and resolve queries in relation to income tax and CGT matters on behalf of investment clients.
Responsibilities:
- Keep up-to-date knowledge of relevant tax regulations through regular review of HMRC guidance, market bulletins, and participation in external working groups and conferences.
- Production of investment client tax reports in compliance with relevant tax authorities onshore and offshore, and documenting client-facing notes explaining the report contents.
- Understand MiFID II
- Understand the reason behind portfolio performance both long and short term.
- Work with the settlement operations and investment front office to implement IT system enhancements and procedural changes across the business,
- Ensuring regulatory requirements are adhered to and in order to support the change management programme.
- Assist settlement operations teams in the completion of daily tasks associated with CGT and portfolio.
- Work with tax specialists in other areas of the group to identify impact of changes to tax rules (eg government budget) and solutions to complex tax events e.g. corporate actions.
Person Specification
- Experience within a financial institution especially a particular focus on client reporting, CGT and other tax rules.
- Demonstrable knowledge of investment management, including relevant terminology
- Demonstrable knowledge of the regulatory environment and how it applies to and impacts your role
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
- Relevant professional qualification(s) desirable e.g. CISI Investment Operations Certificate
- Experience of performance and impact to valuations is essential
- Experience of client reporting and client tax reports is essential
- Experience of complex corporate events is essential
- Understanding of investment products (preferred)
