An innovative fintech start-up currently requires a Junior Accountant to join them on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for a wide array of tasks within the finance department. You will be working closely with the Finance Manager and senior stakeholders to ensure that the finance function scales effectively within a growing fintech stat-up. This company is fully remote so the candidate can be based anywhere in the UK. You will be responsible for:Company Accountant
  • Managing the processes for financial forecasting and budgets, and preparation of all financial reporting
  • Assisting in the preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reporting for Management Team.
  • Cash forecasting and scenario workings
  • Preparation of financial reports for investors as required, including quarterly reporting.
  • Preparation of financial reports for board meetings
  • Day to day Cashflow management
  • EC Sales Submissions
  • Use and maintain Xero
  • Maintains accounting controls / prepare and recommend policies and procedures
  • Prepare and formalise finance related procedures
Receivables
  • Maintaining the billing system
  • Generating invoices and account statements
  • Performing account reconciliations
  • Maintaining accounts receivable files and records
  • Producing monthly financial and management reports
  • Investigating and resolving any irregularities or enquiries
  • Assisting in general financial management and analysis
  • Ensuring client contracts are fully invoiced and in a timely manner
Payables
  • Keeping track of all payments and expenditures, invoices, statements, etc.
  • Reconciling processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
  • Maintaining historical records
  • Update of Xero accounting system with payable invoices
  • Paying vendors by scheduling payments and ensuring payment is received for outstanding credit; generally responding to all vendor enquiries regarding finance
  • Preparing analyses of accounts and producing monthly reports
  • Continuing to improve the payment process
RequirementsFor your application to qualify you will have the following;
  • A developing accountant who is part qualified.
  • You are honest and trustworthy, understanding your own limitations and always seeking guidance and feedback to develop your skills and competencies.
  • You have strong Excel skills.
  • You have graduated from a top university. Quantitative or analytical degrees ( Business, Economics, Maths, Finance) are preferable but not essential.
  • You are curious and empathetic, and always want to learn more and understand others' points of view.
  • You can balance multiple competing priorities, focusing your attention where it's most needed.
  • You have strong communication skills both spoken and written.
  • You can confidently articulate and present your own ideas and solutions, as well as guide technical discussions.
  • You are a systematic problem-solver, methodically working through possibilities to find a solution.
  • Through work or education, you have demonstrated the ability to solve technical, data-driven problems.
  • Your open attitude encourages team members to approach you when they have a problem you can help them solve.
  • You are honest and trustworthy, understanding your own limitations and always seeking guidance and feedback to develop your skills and competencies.
  • You actively search for ways to help the team, without waiting for instructions.
