My client are a market leading Construction contractor. They operate across construction with sites located throughout the UK.

They currently have a vacancy for an experienced Assistant Financial controller to join their head office team. They seek a chartered accountant with 5 years PQE.

This role sits within Commercial Finance and plays an important part in the function's drive to lead the delivery of Corporate Financial service.

With a flexible approach to support all business activities, the Assistant Finance Controller is accountable for reporting and control of the corporate entities of the Group, and support of the wider group finance function.

The Assistant Finance Controller role also includes:

Line management of a co-ordinator and an outsourced team.
Managing the annual budget and quarterly forecast process for Group, including cost-centre reporting, presentation and roll-up.
Supporting Directors in the management of their cost centres through regular reporting, analysis and reviews.

Managing, co-ordinating and delivering the monthly reporting, annual budget and quarterly forecast process for Group, including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow financial analysis and commentary.
Collaborate with Business Development Team to co-ordinate and monitor strategic risk and reporting.
Managing monthly balance sheet reconciliations process to ensure records are complete and all risks and opportunities are tracked.
Managing, co-ordinating and delivering the receivables process to ensure maximisation of FPG Group's cash position.
Managing bank account administration, BACS compliance, weekly payment runs and Direct Debit mandates in line with the FPG Treasury framework.
Managing the internal control framework within Group including co-ordinating internal audit engagements, action plans and reporting.
Leading the external audit process for the six statutory entities and support of the Group audit process.
Leading any compliance related engagements to support licencing obligations in line with the licencing bodies requirements and timing.
Preparing ad-hoc analysis and presentations for Commercial Finance Director
Identifying potential risks, issues, problems and other areas of concern along with plans and actions to mitigate risks and minimise disruption and delays.
Providing advice and expertise to the team and colleagues across the business on critical issues regarding finance matters.
Sharing learning and good practice with colleagues to drive continuous improvement.
Where appropriate, setting targets, objectives and clear responsibilities for any direct reports and ensuring that objectives are suitably cascaded and communicated to all other employees in the hierarchy.
Where appropriate, managing the team and delegating tasks and activities appropriately to ensure finance services are delivered effectively.
Maintaining accurate records and preparing reports in the most appropriate format for various forums, meetings, committees and other groups, in line with reporting cycles.
